SCRAP TRAP 2017

In 2013, the Virginia Board of Health bowed to political pressure and advanced sham restrictions on Virginia women’s health centers that were designed solely to close clinics and restrict access to safe and legal abortion. Thankfully, in October 2016 the Board of Health voted to roll back the worst of these politically-motivated restrictions and keep health centers open, safe, and accessible for the women they serve, and in January 2017 Governor Terry McAuliffe approved those amendments. Help us fight back against these sham restrictions by submitting a public comment in support of the amendments to the Health Commissioner and Virginia Board of Health!

Tell the Health Commissioner and Board Health:

The amendments to the regulations governing licensed abortion facilities passed by the Board of Health and approved by the Governor are necessary to protect women's health, to preserve access to comprehensive reproductive health care, including abortion care, in Virginia, and to comply with federal law. The Supreme Court’s ruling in Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt is now the law of the land and Virginia must act quickly to comply. The approved amendments are necessary to roll back politically motivated regulations that do nothing to improve health and safety and are instead designed to shut down access to safe and legal abortion care in Virginia. Those regulations violate a woman’s constitutional right to access safe, legal abortion care under Whole Woman’s Health and must be taken off the books. I support the approved amendments to the regulations, and thank Governor McAuliffe and the Board of Health for protecting access to comprehensive reproductive health care in Virginia!
