Support Paid Family and Medical Leave in Virginia

The Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee is considering a bill that would establish a paid family and medical leave program in Virginia. Email your Senator to ask them to support paid family and medical leave!

I'm writing to ask you to support SB770, establishing a paid family and medical leave program in Virginia.  The program provides up to 12 weeks of paid leave benefits to workers who need time away from work to deal with their own serious health condition, care for a family member with a serious health condition, care for a new child, or meet certain military family caregiving needs.

Paid family and medical leave benefits are the equivalent of 70 percent of a worker’s usual wages, up to a maximum amount that adjusts annually. Benefits are also paid out of a fund financed by small employer and employee payroll contributions. Paid family and medical leave is job-protected, meaning that individuals would not need to worry about losing their jobs while out on leave.

There are thousands of workers in Virginia who deserve paid family and medical leave--one that is fair to ALL Virginians. No one should have to choose between their job and their family. Please support Virginia working families by voting for SB770.
