Support access to reproductive healthcare in Virginia

The Virginia Senate Education and Health Committee is debating the Reproductive Health Equity Act to secure reproductive health care services for all people. Email your Senator and demand they support SB917!

When SB917 comes for a vote in the Senate, I'm asking you to vote YES in support of quality reproductive healthcare for everyone. Thousands of Virginians still lack coverage for the full range of reproductive health services, through discrimination and political interference.

The Reproductive Health Equity bill would establish comprehensive coverage for the full spectrum of reproductive health services, including family planning, abortion, and postpartum care, for all Virginians, regardless of income, citizenship status, gender identity, or type of insurance.

––Requires all commercial plans to abide by the ACA provision that prohibits insurers from imposing co-pays, deductibles or co-insurance on preventive reproductive health services.
––Codifies the right to safe and legal abortion in Virginia, which is particularly important given the uncertain future of Roe v. Wade.
––Establishes coverage for the full range of reproductive health care, including family planning, abortion and postpartum care, for Virginians who are categorically excluded from health programs due to citizenship status.
––Codifies a nondiscrimination clause that prohibits discrimination, including discrimination on the basis of gender identity, in reproductive health coverage.

All Virginians deserve to be supported and respected in their reproductive decisions, and not shamed or pressured when seeking reproductive healthcare. I urge you to support the SB917.
