Seven current and former state Senators chose to be held in contempt of court, rather than turn over PUBLIC documents that describe how they used the redistricting process to rig elections and ensure they couldn't be defeated. The court fines equal almost $5,000 a week that we're paying while they refuse to come clean. Take action now and demand these politicians stop wasting our time and money fighting to keep public records secret.

Tell them to stop hiding

To: State Senators John Edwards, Dick Saslaw, Richard Stuart, George Barker and David Marsden and former state Senators Ralph Smith and Charles Colgan:

Please stop obstructing transparency and turn over the public documents subject to court order in Vesilind et.al. v. Virginia State Board of Elections. It is unconscionable to stick taxpayers with the bill for contempt fines while you fight to keep public documents secret. The factors taken into consideration when drawing legislative districts should be public record. Public integrity suffers when public business is conducted in private. I ask you to immediately turn over the records and stop defending doing public business in the dark.
